In 2018, Chairman Berrey led a team of lawyers, lobbyists and communications professionals to get a new Arkansas amendment passed on the general election ballot to allow expansion of casino gaming in the state. Amendment 100 was overwhelming approved, and Quapaw Nation won a casino license to build a showcase casino resort in Pine Bluff, which is part of the Quapaw’s historic Arkansas homeland.
Saracen Casino Resort, a $350 million development spearheaded by Chairman Berrey, will open in Fall 2020. It will undoubtedly be the most beautiful and luxurious casino resort in the South, and it will stand as a monument and celebration of Quapaw tribal heritage and history. Saracen will be very much like Downstream Casino Resort in terms of size and scope, design and style. And it portends an even brighter future for the Quapaw Nation and all of its people.
